Andrews & Arnold Ltd offer training courses on various subjects. We can provide in-house training on the telephone systems we supply, We run training on IP/networking as well as (on behalf of FireBrick Ltd) training for FireBrick dealers. The courses are run from our offices in Bracknell.

Course dates

Cancellation

Please note, cancellation before one week of the start of the course is no charge; otherwise before 24 hours before the start of the course is 50% of the full course fee; and after that point is 100% of the course fee remains payable. Customers who have cancelled and wish to attend a later course must have paid their account up to date and pay at least 50% of the course fees in advance when booking the next course.

If for any reason we have to postpone a course we will give as much notice as possible, and offer a full credit if you then choose not to attend a later course. Please provide a contact number when booking.

Understanding Internet Protocol

The course normally has 9:30 start for 10:00, and runs to between 15:00 and 16:00 depending on questions, etc.

The venue is Enterprise Court, BRACKNELL, RG12 1QS.

The IP course is aimed at IT staff and people interested in networking. The main objective is to underpin networking knowledge with a more detailed understanding of the actual operation of IP protocols. It is often the case that IT staff can configure and manage networks without, for example, understanding how a netmask works. Whilst normal network operation does not need such a detailed understanding, it is invaluable when things don't work or when setting up more complex networks. The course also includes a book on TCP/IP networking which is useful reference. The following topics are covered during the day.

• Format of IP, IP6, and MAC addresses and subnet masks
• Ethernet networks (hubs, switches, cables, 10/100/1000, crossover)
• MAC addresses and ARPs
• Subnets and subnet masks
• Basic routing and gateways
• Static routes, and return paths
• Basic operation of IP
• ICMP
• UDP
• TCP
• DHCP, and basic network configuration settings
• DNS and domains
• Reverse DNS (IP4 and IP6)
• SMTP and MX records
• VPNs and tunnels
• The future of IP and IP6
• Other related topics as requested on the day and as time permits

FireBrick technical training

The course normally has 9:30 start for 10:00 on each day, and runs to between 15:00 and 16:00 depending on questions, etc.

The venue is Enterprise Court, BRACKNELL, RG12 1QS. The cost including buffet lunch, overnight accommodation, and a Dealer Demo Brick (which includes all feature keys).

This course covers the installation and configuration of the FireBrick 105 product including setting up all of the optional features. It is a two day course and assumes a good understanding of IP. If you are unsure of any aspect of IP then the one

As explained on the FireBrick web site, the course offers accreditation as a FireBrick 105 dealer, and provides dealer prices for FireBrick 105 and feature key purchased. Whilst attendees normally pass, it is possible to fail the course and not be accredited. Should this happen then the course is reduced to half price, and does not include the demo FireBrick. day understanding internet protocols course is recommended.

The course includes ethernet and internet networks and how they interact with the FireBrick; Filtering; Routing; Grouping; Subnets; Mapping; Extras; Shaping; Profiles; Tunnels; Monitoring; Bonding; 5Port; VLAN.

The training includes full hands-on training using FireBricks with real IP addresses on the internet, installing feature keys and configuring features.
